November 18, 2019

In a game of runs and droughts, Cal came from behind to earn a 54-50 win over a gritty Prairie View A&M squad in Berkeley.

The win gives the Golden Bears a 4-0 on the season.

Trailing 35-26 at the half, Prairie View allowed the first basket of the second half before going on a 17-2 run that lasted nearly six minutes, fueled by 10 points from Darius Williams, putting the Panthers up 44-39 with eight minutes to play.

Two free throws by Matt Bradley (pictured) ended the run and over the final eight minutes, Cal outscored Prairie View 15-6, including holding the Panthers scoreless over the final 2:09.

Bradley led all scorers with 16 points, including 6-of-7 from the line. Grant Anticevich added 13 points and six rebounds.

Prairie View was paced by Williams’ 12 points. Chancellor Ellis also tallied 12 points.

The 2K Empire Classic benefiting Wounded Warrior Project continues in New York on Thursday with the Championship Rounds presented by Continental Tire. At 7:00pm, No. 22 Texas will tip against Georgetown. That game will be followed by No. 1 Duke taking on Cal at Madison Square Garden.
